Happy Holidays Indeed! 10% Off Plus Free Shipping at HDH Retail

Hart Davis Hart wants you to have a happy holiday, and we couldn’t think of a better combination than offering 10% off a huge list of amazing wine and including free shipping! I love a good wine sale, and I felt it was my duty to explore the list of over 450 in-stock wines we have on offer at 10% off. I thought I would highlight a few favorites and point out some incredible offerings. I must say that it is not easy to choose a concise list, as there is such a looong list of wines I would easily call ‘don’t miss’-so the first thing I would do (after reading this compelling blog entry), is download the full list from our website and start shopping! Our offer ends soon so take advantage while you can.

A few personal highlights from this embarrassment of riches:

1982 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou available in bottle and case quantities. Direct from the Château. What?! Perfect provenance, a legendary vintage and a beautiful wine close to its peak. Happy Holiday indeed.

11 Vintages of Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux IN MAGNUM. Direct from the Château. Are you kidding me? This is the ultimate gift to give the serious white wine lover (even if it’s yourself). These wines age magnificently, drink splendidly and are rare to boot.

2009 Corton-Charlemagne, Bonneau du Martray. For something on the indulgent side, this white Burgundy is powerful, rich and will reward earlier drinking. A spectacular offering from the producer that is the reference point for Corton-Charlemagne.

Bruno Clair anything. Want some Bonnes-Mares? Clos de Bèze? Clos St.-Jacques? 2011 or 2012? The 11’s are elegant and precise while the 12’s are richer and will need a bit of time to reach their full potential. The wines coming from this address are hard to beat….

2011 Hermitage, J. L. Chave. I just drank this a few nights ago (actually I mostly just smelled it. And smelled it. And smelled it.). Gorgeous, intoxicating, classic Hermitage nose. The palate is (understandably) backward right now, but this will reward you handsomely with some cellar time. One of the world’s greatest wines. And it’s on sale.

Need bubbles? We have 2004 Dom Pérignon Rosé2003 Krug, Brut, and magnums of 2002 Bollinger, R.D., Extra Brut just  to name just a few. I will be buying some Agrapart & FIls Terroirs Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru, which is the epitome of Côte de Blancs Champagne.

I hate to let France have all the fun, so don’t overlook Italy (lots of incredible 2010 Barolo), Germany (ex-cellar Joh. Jos. Prüm in abundance!) and California (100pt 2005 SQN 17th Nail In My Cranium anyone?) to name just a few more. So do yourself a favor and take advantage of this great offer while it lasts.

Juicy Details with David Larson: Titans of White Burgundy

I hope by now you have heard about our December sale. 3401 lots. That is a lot of lots. This is such a spectacular sale on so many levels that it is hard to focus when looking through our titanic catalog. After some serious concentration, a number of things stand out to me. I willContinue Reading

Let Me Be Direct: Château-Direct Consignments

The words provenance and storage are probably the two most important words we use at Hart Davis Hart. They are so closely tied together around our offices that they are almost one word. Provenanceandstorage.  When Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. is deciding whether to offer wine for sale, the provenance and storage are the firstContinue Reading

Juicy Details with David Larson: Diamond Creek

Juicy Details with David Larson: Diamond Creek

You often hear the word terroir spoken about when the subject of fine wine comes up. Typically it is in reference to wines from Old World regions like Burgundy or Piedmont, but rarely California. That being said, there is one California winery that easily fits into a conversation about terroir: Diamond Creek. Diamond Creek wasContinue Reading

Juicy Details with David Larson: The Wines of Bruno Clair

I like to drink wine. I especially like to drink Burgundy. And when given the choice of a domaine to enjoy, the wines of Bruno Clair are at the very top of my list. I previously worked for many years with the local importer/wholesaler for these wines, and had the opportunity to visit and tasteContinue Reading

Juicy Details with David Larson: Musings on White Bordeaux

So I tend to preface many of my posts with something being “one of my favorite __________”. This post  is going to be a bit different in that it is about a wine that is NOT among my favorites - namely white Bordeaux. It is pretty far down my list of white wines, below the likesContinue Reading

Juicy Details with David Larson: Syrah and the Northern Rhône

Okay, so I have another favorite red grape. It’s Syrah. I was going to write about summer whites, but I had a bottle of 2002 Chave Saint-Joseph recently and I’m still thinking about it. And besides, it’s the season of cookouts and barbecues, and there are few better wines to pair with grilled meats thanContinue Reading

Juicy Details with David Larson: Single Vineyard Barolo

As I continue to drink more and more Barolo (not sure what took me so long), I have been diving deeper into the study of the region’s vineyards. It seems, from where I sit, that the single vineyards of Barolo don’t have as much attention paid to them as they deserve. Burgundy and Germany haveContinue Reading

Juicy Details with David Larson: Great Wine

What makes a wine great? This question came up last Saturday night following our Celebration of Burgundy sale. I posed it to myself, but that still counts. I asked (myself) this question during the course of our auction, as I had the opportunity to taste a number of very good wines that were opened inContinue Reading

Juicy Details with David Larson: Domaine Roulot

Do you like wine with energy and precision? Not afraid of acidity and minerality? Like your wine to come from one of the greatest winemakers in Burgundy, if not the world? Then the Meursaults from Jean-Marc Roulot are for you. Much has been written about this great estate, so rather than focus on facts andContinue Reading
