Featuring Highly-Sought California Cult Wines, Classic Bordeaux & Champagne Direct from the Cellars of Krug
(April 23, 2015—Chicago, IL) – Hart Davis Hart Wine Co., the internationally renowned wineauction house and retailer, will hold An Auction of Finest & Rarest Wines on May 15-16 at the award-winning TRU restaurant in Chicago. This exceptional two-day sale will offer old- and new-world wines of incredible diversity and provenance, featuring over 2,600 lots valued at an estimated $4.3-$6.4 million.
Coming off of the success of our Celebration of Burgundy sale in March, this multiregional May auction will contain a host of great wines spanning all of Europe’s top winemaking regions. Bordeaux lovers will be thrilled with the sale’s extensive mature offerings from the cellars of noteworthy collectors, including 58 lots from the famed 1982 vintage, 39 lots from 1990, 38 lots from 1996, and an incredible 163 lots from 2000, many of which are available in case quantities. Other highlights include 1989 Château Le Pin (12 bs) (lot 2243, est. $19,000-28,000), a salmanazar (9L) of 2005 Ausone (lot 30, est. $15,000-22,000), and an imperial of 1997 Château Pétrus (lot 733 est. $8,000-12,000). Bidders interested in Burgundy will be similarly delighted with the array of offerings from heralded producers, including 1962 Romanée-St-Vivant, Maison Leroy (12 bs) (lot 1814, est. $22,000-32,000), 1993 Vosne-Romanée, Cros Parantoux, Henri Jayer (4 bs) (lot 557, est. $16,000-24,000), and 1978 Romanée-Conti, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (1 b) (lot 1282, est. $8,500-13,000). Our May auction will also feature a stunning collection of Champagne direct from the cellars of Krug (lots 419-437). HDH is honored to be the fi rst auction house to offer the 2000 vintage of Clos d’Ambonnay – the newest release of this iconic Champagne. The pristine parcel also includes multiple vintages of Clos du Mesnil and rare large format offerings of Krug Collection Champagnes. Finally, collectors interested in new-world wines will fi nd a particularly incredible assortment in this sale, including over 300 lots of rarest Sine Qua Non valued between $415,170 and $620,870. This encyclopedia of SQN includes every red wine made by the winery from 1992-2012 save one, and features 1994 Sine Qua Non Red Wine, Queen of Spades (2 bs) (lot 1536, est. $4,000-6,000), 1995 Sine Qua Non Red Wine, Tant Pis! (1 mag) (lot 1538, est. $6,000-9,000), and 2000 Sine Qua Non Syrah, Heels Over Head (1 b) (lots 517 & 1311, est. $1,200-1,800). The auction will take place at Chicago’s award-winning restaurant, TRU, beginning promptly at 8:30am (CT) on Friday, May 15 & Saturday, May 16, 2015. TRU is located at 676 N.
