Auction Features over 4,000 Lots Valued at $6.3-9.4 Million
Hart Davis Hart Wine Co., the #1 wine auction house in the U.S. and renowned wine retailer, will hold its final auction of 2016 on December 15th, 16th and 17th at Chicago’s TRU restaurant. This massive three-day sale features 4,324 lots valued at an estimated $6.3-9.4 million. HDH’s December auction contains a plethora of exceptional Bordeaux and Burgundy. Bidders interested in Bordeaux will find nearly 800 lots from 85 of the region’s top châteaux, with vintages dating from as far back as 1934.
Collectors will want to take note of the 53 lots of Mouton Rothschild (est. $169,850-255,350) and the 47 lots of Lafite Rothschild (est. $152,070-228,180). Burgundy lovers will be thrilled by the extensive offerings from top producers totaling an estimated $2.1-3.2M. There are 105 lots of DRC (est. $316,300-469,900), 68 lots of Armand Rousseau (est. $147,700-220,650), 59 lots of Georges Roumier (est. $128,550-191,150), and 55 lots of Domaine Leflaive (est. $71,850-106,900). The auction will also feature several lots of Henri Jayer including three bottles of the extremely rare 1985 Vosne-Romanée, Cros Parantoux (est. $20,000-30,000).
In addition to classic vintages of top Bordeaux and Burgundy, the December sale will include a comprehensive collection of late release Champagne, sourced directly from the cellars of Dom Pérignon. Highlights of the collection are ten vintages of the rare Plénitude 3 (P3). These special Champagnes are aged for 30 to 40 years on the lees. Dom Pérignon’s own Chef de Cave describes them as “Darker, more complex, streamlined, the ideal of Dom Pérignon.”
Those interested in New World wines will be happy to find an array of excellent California Cabernet including nine bottles of 1974 Heitz Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon, Martha’s Vineyard (est. $7,500-11,000), a fifteen-bottle vertical of Harlan Estate Red Wine spanning vintages 1999-2012 (est. $6,000-9,000), and three bottles of 2007 Screaming Eagle (est. $5,000-7,500).
